National Recycling Week (NRW) starts on Monday, November 12

The National Recycling Week kicks off this week (Mon 12 November to Sun 18 November) and with the busy weeks leading up to it, we decided to get even busier by putting on some cool events for you.

During the NRW week itself, we will welcome several councillors and mayors from various councils around WA. Some of them have been recycling e-waste with us for years, some of them are coming to see how they could avoid sending poisonous e-waste to our landfills. Did you know that not all council in Perth actually recycle e-waste? Sad, but true. And that’s why we’d like to start the conversations with them and help them to do the right thing.

“WA’s rate of waste production per capita is the highest in all of Australia!”

But not all councils are created equal. Some of them (City of Stirling, Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council, City of Cockburn to name a few) have been great at educating their residents and keeping us busy by sending loads of your e-waste our way. So in return, we teamed up and rewarded them and their residents with a free tour of our facility.

“Globally there have been 50 million tonnes of e-waste produced this year alone. 400 thousand tonnes of this is made in Australia.”
